The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has initiated an internal assessment of employment and placement procedures as the agency prepares for a significant restructuring that could affect hundreds of staff members. According to sources familiar with the development, roughly 300 employees may be impacted by an upcoming right-placement exercise designed to align roles more closely with qualifications, service needs, and organisational standards.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, FAAN explained that the review is intended to strengthen clarity around career progression, ensure consistent application of policies, and reinforce confidence in the agency’s internal systems. Management, he said, is seeking to identify and address any procedural gaps while refining existing structures to improve transparency and efficiency.

The authority emphasized that its placement and career advancement processes are governed by established regulations aimed at fairness, competence, and overall organisational effectiveness. Agbebire reaffirmed that FAAN adheres strictly to due process across all cadres, adding that the Managing Director recently authorised a deeper review following certain employment-related concerns raised within the organisation.

FAAN also clarified that no staff member is ever required to withhold or amend qualifications during recruitment. All appointments, the statement noted, are based on advertised roles, defined criteria, and voluntary documentation submitted by applicants. Where policy adjustments become necessary, the authority maintains that such changes are handled responsibly and in accordance with public service rules.

In addition to the organisational review, FAAN reiterated its zero-tolerance stance toward workplace misconduct, including harassment, intimidation, and abuse of office. The agency stated that it operates confidential, active channels for reporting and investigating grievances, ensuring that disciplinary actions are taken when behaviour violates internal standards.

As the restructuring process moves forward, FAAN maintains that the overarching goal is to enhance meritocracy, improve organisational cohesion, and ensure that its workforce is aligned with the operational demands of Nigeria’s expanding aviation sector.
