Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Tems has shared insights into the mindset and faith that helped her persevere long before achieving global fame, during a mini interactive session with fans on X (formerly Twitter).

When asked what kept her going during moments of doubt, Tems credited her resilience to her faith and intentional self-belief. “Honestly, I leaned on God a lot. And I focused on serving. I hypnotised myself into thinking positively about me. Most negative thoughts are lies. They are just easier to believe. There is nothing you cannot do. Just don’t focus on other people because who will focus on you?” she wrote.

In response to a fan question about alternate career paths, Tems revealed she may have pursued a more conventional profession had music not worked out. “I might have been an accountant or a mathematics teacher,” she said.

Reflecting on one of life’s biggest lessons, Tems distilled it into a simple yet profound statement: “Dying to self.”

The singer also praised her frequent collaborator Wizkid, highlighting qualities she admires in him. “His heart, his work ethic,” she said.

The Q&A session has generated widespread reactions from fans, who continue to draw inspiration from Tems’ honesty, humility, and faith-driven journey in the music industry.
