Education District I Holds Carol Of Nine Lessons, Counsel Students On Godly Attributes

As students in public schools prepare for an end-of-the-year vacation from academic activities, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District I, Barrister Titilayo Solarin, has pleaded with students within the District to shun ungodly attitudes capable of hampering the smooth running of their academic pursuits.

Speaking at the Y2020 edition of the annual Carol of Nine Lessons organised by the District and held at the New Covenant Baptist Church, Ifako-Ijaiye, Barrister Solarin, said that the event has become one of the annual activities by the District and a way of appreciating God for the successful academic journey since the beginning of the year.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director of Admin and Human Resources in the District, Mrs. Grace Olubunmi-Olaopin, urged the students to use the holiday to seek the face of God while they celebrate the Christmas season and beyond.

She said, “We cannot over-emphasise the challenges encountered by our education system this year, it was sudden and unexpected. While we are grateful for the smooth return of activities in our schools, it is also important to use the opportunity of this end of the year holiday to seek the face of God to help avert a re-occurrence of anything that is capable of threatening our academic calendar”.

“I want our students to remember that Jesus came to this world for all of us. He didn’t just come, he came and died. So, I implore all our students not to live a life that will be contrary to what Jesus stood for, which is holiness, and I believe that with holiness they will be able to fulfil their glorious destinies”, Barrister Solarin reiterated.

She also called for caution among students and the entire residents of the State in view of the onset of the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic in the State, urging them not to lose guard but comply with all necessary safety precautions.

The Carol event featured Christmas renditions from the District Choir comprising of Principals, Teachers and Students from different schools in Lagos State Education District 1.
