The founder of the cross-platform cloud-based instant
messaging system turned a year older on October 10, as he leaves some life
lessons for his followers on Telegram.
Seeing as he turned 37, he chose to share between three and
seven pieces of advice on the messaging platform.
He wrote, “As I turn 37, I made a list of 3 undervalued and
7 overvalued things in life.”
Durov gave us three suggestions under the category
“undervalued” through his channel on Telegram. His first advice was about
sleep. According to Durov, sleep tops the list of things of little value in
life. He wrote, “Sleep promotes immunity, creativity and psychological
well-being.”
His second point was about nature. It read, “Nature is the
environment in which we are biologically designed to feel good.”
Durov’s third and final point under the undervalued category
was solitude. According to him, “being alone gives freedom to achieve spiritual
and intellectual successes.”
Then, Durov began his list of the more valuable things in
life. First on his list were the big cities. “Big cities are sources of
pollution, crime and noise,” they have good access to resources, but living
outside their borders is advisable.”
He also talked about the restaurant. He wrote, “Restaurants
provide the slowest and least effective way to eat. Cooking at home provides a
healthier diet and more control over ingredients.”
The next point was hot weather, “Sunny weather can bring not
only a loose attitude, but also the risk of cancer and rapid aging. Colder
temperatures, by contrast, clear the soul, body, and mind.” “
Fashion was his fourth point. “The endless quest to keep up
with the ever-changing trends is expensive and unnecessary. Focusing on
comfortable clothing simplifies life and frees up space for the important
things.”
Durov also mentioned real estate. The point was, “Buying
real estate often limits one’s choices and is a questionable investment.
Renting gives more freedom to move and explore different locations.”
He also wrote about social media, “The constant flow of junk
from social media to our brains saps our happiness and creativity.
Disconnecting from these internet devices is the best thing we can do on any
given day.”
Her last point about the more valuable things in life was
celebrity advice.
“Celebrities often give inappropriate advice outside their
area of expertise. For all the important things in life, it’s best to rely on
hard science and expert opinion.”
