In its daily COVID-19 bulletin, Nigeria Centre
for Disease Control NCDC said the nation’s cumulative total number of cases now
stands at 249,154 .
In the same 24-hour span, 716 patients were
discharged from hospitals across the nation. A total of 220,195 people in Nigeria
have recovered from COVID-19 thus far.
Number of active COVID-19 cases also continued
their downward trend, with 25,873 cases reported on Tuesday, a reduction of 295
cases from the previous day, when it was 26,168.
The ministry’s COVID-19 tracker website ncdc.gov.ng
showed that coronavirus deaths in Nigeria moved up to 3,086 with one more fatality
reported as deaths count declined in past 24 hours.
According to NCDC, the fresh COVID-19 cases were
recorded across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Rivers recorded the maximum number of 178
cases followed by Kwara with 87 cases and FCT with 57 cases.
Borno reported 20 cases, Kaduna had 17 cases, Plateau
had 14 cases and Katsina reported 12 cases.
Six cases each were recorded in Delta, Edo and
Jigawa, while Anambra, Ekiti and Oyo reported five cases each, Ogun had three cases
and Nasarawa reported one case.
NCDC added that zero cases were reported from
Abia, Sokoto, and Zamfara, States.
It also noted that today’s report includes 20
cases reported in Bauchi state on 7th (12), 8th (1), 9th (2), and 10th (5)
January 2022.
And 6 cases reported in Delta state on 4th (2)
and 7th (4) January 2022.
