Welcomed by Goran Sladic, Managing Director of NBC, along
with Laolu Akinkugbe, Non-Executive Director, and other leadership members, the
Minister toured the expansive 110,000 m² facility. This visit marks a
significant step in the government’s efforts to foster an environment conducive
to the development of manufacturing businesses in Nigeria.
During her visit, Uzoka-Anite emphasised the critical role
of the real sector in Nigeria’s sustainable economic growth. “Our visit today
aligns with President’s vision of industrialisation,” the Minister stated. “We
are intent on creating the right environment for businesses to prosper. Our
focus is on reducing poverty and fueling economic growth with sound fiscal
policies.”
The Minister stressed the importance of dialogue and
cooperation with the private sector to tackle challenges and seize growth
opportunities, highlighting the government’s dedication to public-private
partnerships.
Goran Sladic, NBC’s Managing Director, expressed his
enthusiasm about the visit. “Hosting the Honourable Minister is a tremendous
honor. It signifies the government’s willingness to engage with us, and today’s
discussions mark an important step towards a more resilient and sustainable
manufacturing industry,” he said.
Sladic outlined NBC’s commitment over the past decade,
noting a substantial investment of $1.32 billion in operations, supply chain
innovations, and workforce training. “Our focus extends beyond our products. We
are heavily invested in community programs, especially those empowering women
and youth, and initiatives in water stewardship, environmental sustainability,
and efficient waste management,” he added. Celebrating their 70th anniversary,
NBC recently pledged a €1 million donation to drive social programs across
eight Nigerian states.
As part of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company A.G, an
anchor bottler for The Coca-Cola Company, NBC plays a pivotal role in a network
spanning 29 countries and reaching over 715 million consumers with more than
197 brands.
This visit represents a promising step towards fostering a
robust manufacturing sector in Nigeria, with both the government and private
entities like NBC playing pivotal roles in this collective endeavor.
