Nigerian singer, Oladimeji Oyekanmi, a.k.a Sugar has expressed his admiration for two legendary musicians, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Majek Fashek, stating that they serve as significant inspirations for him.
Highlighting the iconic status of both late musicians in
their era, Sugar emphasized his aspiration to reach similar heights of
influence in his own music career.
“Fela and Majek Fashek inspire me greatly, because they were
able to cross multiple boundaries with their music.
“Before Nigerian music started getting the global acclaim it
is presently enjoying, those singers had been known all over the world.
Contemporary artistes that inspire me are Davido and Olamide”.
With a commitment to delivering meaningful messages through
his music, Sugar aims to make a lasting impact on the music industry.
“I am dedicated to spreading meaningful messages through my
music, because I want to leave a lasting impact on the music industry.”
The singer, who recently released two singles titled, ‘Daily
Bread’ and ‘Middle Man’, added, “I want to keep making waves in the music
scene, and I aim to carve a niche for myself with my compelling lyrics and
infectious rhythms”.
Looking ahead, Sugar revealed his plans to release a music
video directed by Sam’s Visuals, which will be accessible across various
streaming platforms and his social media channels.
