    Nigeria: COVID-19 Cases Surpass 33,000 as NCDC Reports 595 New Infections

    The spread of novel Coronavirus Disease COVID-19 in Nigeria continues to rise as the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control shows that the country recorded 595 new cases.

    The new cases confirmed by the health agency took the country’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 33,153 across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    NCDC also announced the death of four people from the virus infections in the last 24 hours, this raises the total fatalities to 744
    And 224 more patients have been discharged after testing negative twice to coronavirus, as the total number of recoveries and discharged rose 13,671

    The agency in a tweet late Monday said the new cases were reported in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    A breakdown of the news cases shows that Lagos recorded 156 positive cases, 141 cases were found in Oyo and 99 cases in FCT.

    Other states that have recorded new cases include: Edo-47, Kaduna-27, Ondo-22, Rivers-20
    Osun-17, Imo-13, Plateau-10, Nasarawa-8, Anambra-8, Kano-5, Benue-5, Borno-5, Ogun-4 Taraba-3, Gombe-3, Kebbi-1 and Cross rivers-1

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 183,294 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 13th of July 2020, 595 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 33,153 cases have been confirmed, 13,671 cases have been discharged and 744 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
