    Nigeria Logs Six Deaths, 670 COVID-19 Infections Monday

    Nigeria has registered 670 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, a jump from yesterday, but short of the record.

    Yesterday, 573 infections were recorded; an increase from the 536 seen on January 1.

    With 24,895 COVID-19 cases still active since the start of the pandemic,  active cases decline from over 25,000 cases it was the previous day.

    Also, six more patients lost their lives to the illness overnight. Which includes four deaths  recorded in FCT on 2nd (3) & 3rd (1) January 2022.

    As many as 828 people across the country recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC disclosed this via its official Facebook page.

    The health officials stated that 75 of the discharges are for Kaduna state on 1st (45), 2nd (60) & 3rd (70) January 2022.

    Also, 52 discharged cases were reported in Abia state on 2nd January 2022.

    And 163 recoveries cases reported in FCT is for 2nd (4) & 3rd (159) January 2022 with 150 community discharges.

    With the new update the health officials, NCDC revealed that till date, 244,120 cases have been confirmed, 216,180 cases have been discharged and 3,045 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The breakdown according to NCDC report as follows Lagos-277, Kaduna-199, FCT-120, Kwara-20, Abia-14, Rivers-11, Gombe-9, Katsina-9, Bauchi-6, Edo-3 and Cross River-2.

    NCDC noted that today’s report includes 199 confirmed cases reported in Kaduna state on 1st (4), 2nd (5) & 3rd (10) January 2022 with additional 180 cases on 20th (65), 22nd (70) & 23rd (45) December 2021.

    Also added that 120 confirmed cases reported in FCT is for 2nd (109), 3rd (11) January 2022.

    And 14 confirmed cases reported in Abia is for 2nd January 2022.

    Plateau and Sokoto State reported zero cases of the virus on Monday according to NCDC report.

    NCDC also disclosed that it had conducted about 3,863,081 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced in the country. Out which 39,772 COVID-19 tests conducted with last Monday till today.
