    Nigeria`s Daily COVID-19 Cases Declines, Country Reports One Death, Eight New Infections

    Cases of COVID-19 continue to drop significantly across the country, as the most recent surge caused by the Omicron variant is declining at a rapid pace.

    The total number of the COVID-19 infections in Nigeria reached 253,978 on Saturday, as Nigeria Centre  for Disease Control NCDC registered eight fresh COVID-19 cases, with one coronavirus related death reported in the last 24 hours.

    The health officials also announced the discharged of six new patients after fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.

    Currently, active cases in Nigeria  stand at 20,514.

    According to NCDC,  the new COVID-19 infections were reported in two states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The new eight cases recorded today were found in FCT, Rivers and Kaduna states with four, three and one cases respectively.

    While Bauchi, Delta, Kano, Plateau, and Sokoto reported no cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.

    Since the virus was first detected, it has claimed 3,141 lives in Nigeria, and more than 230,323 people have recovered in the country after falling ill, the health officials said.
