The Favourite Girl hitmaker, speaking on the Comfortably Speaking Podcast, argued that many songs and genres gained traction because women embraced them first, often influencing men to follow suit.
“The truth of the matter is music, the world in general, is dictated by women,” Darkoo said. “A lot of music you like is because women like it. You play Sexyy Red in your car, why? Because you want to impress a girl you’re picking up.”
She pointed to the rise of Amapiano, the South African genre that exploded globally after women started dancing to its beats on social media.
“I feel like women got into Amapiano first when they were doing dance trends online. Back then, people thought it was weird. But now, men are f*cking with Amapiano,” she added.
