The shortlists for the 2020 edition of The Gerety Awards have been announced. Among the 147 entries shortlisted, 19 come from India. Wunderman Thompson leads the pack with 10 shortlists - all of which come for Lux's 'Soap with a Lump entry. FCB India has eight shortlists, four each for Mumbai Police's 'The Punishing Signal' and The Times of India's 'Times out and proud classifieds'.
The 'Phonetic Can' campaign for Coca-Cola by FCB Johannesburg was shortlisted, as well as Havas Johannesburg with its 'Take This Thread'. A pride campaign for BOS Ice Tea by VMLY&R was also shortlisted and LifeDesign Johannesburg goes into the next round with 'Wisdom of Life' for Cipla Pharmaceuticals.
Lucia Ongay, Gerety co-founder, says, "With just 147 entries making 2020's shortlist, the Gerety jury has clearly set the highest benchmark and the subsequent winners will continue to redefine the standard to which advertising is held."
The awards have indicated that more than 150 judges from 10 different countries have created the short-list. Due to travel restrictions, 2020's judging took place virtually. The set locations included:
- Melbourne
- Bangkok
- Istanbul
- Helsinki
- Buenos Aires
- Berlin
- London
- Madrid
- Johannesburg, and
- New York.

According to the awards, winners are determined based on scores achieved across the board, regardless of the product advertised or medium submitted. This ensures that only the very best work is awarded by the jury of agency and brand leaders, as well as showing clients and interested parties that the winning entries resonate with the world's most powerful consumers.
