Nigeria health officials confirmed no additional coronavirus virus-related deaths and 43 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.
While the latest numbers are lower than the previous day, hospitalizations continue to decline. There were 8 confirmed COVID-19 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours.
The newly reported numbers brings Nigeria’s total number of reported COVID-19 cases to 165,153 and 2,063 coronavirus related deaths to date. 155,109 people have recovered and been discharged since the beginning of the pandemic.
The new cases were recorded in 6 states and Federal Capital Territory.
A breakdown released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC shows that Lagos confirmed 28 cases of the virus infections reported on Saturday, while FCT, River and Ekiti reported 4, 4 and 2 respectively.
Others states with new cases include Kaduna-2, Ogun-2 and Bauchi-1.
The number of active, lab-confirmed infections also continues to declined, remain below 10,000 mark. Nigeria’s active caseload is now 7,981 up from 7,951 it was on 28th of April 2021,
