    COVID-19: Seven Deaths, 250 New Infections Reported in Nigeria

    The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 300 for the last 9 days now.

    With 250 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, Nigeria’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 252,678, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC data updated on Tuesday.

    The public health officials sadly registered seven additional coronavirus related deaths in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths recorded on Monday, a total of 3,133 persons have now died of coronavirus across Nigeria.

    However, NCDC noted that the 7 deaths were backlogs from Ondo state on 11th - 23rd January 2022.

    NCDC’s data show that the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 227,491, after 487 patients were discharged on Tuesday.

    The latest data released by the NCDC shows that the new confirmed cases were reported across 12 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    According to the breakdown, Lagos State, which has contributed more to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country recorded 122 cases.

    The 122 cases reported in Lagos state include additional 90 backlogs from 20th - 23rd January 2022, the health officials said.

    While Gombe, FCT, Kaduna and Borno  recorded 44, 20, 19 and 16 infections respectively.

    Also, Delta and Ondo reported seven cases each, Rivers had six cases, Jigawa and Oyo reported three cases each. Bauchi, Kano and Ogun reported one case each.

    NCDC added that  zero cases were reported from Ekiti, Nasarawa, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
