Although she lost the primary election to Rt. Hon Essien Ayi, she was appointed as Special Adviser Liaison Lagos by Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade in December 2015.

In 2016, a Twitter user shared a photograph of a two-year-old boy, Michael Alvez, who was suffering from an ulcerous growth on his face, tagging Henshaw in the post.

She became invested in the situation and, along with others, raised 8 million Naira for the boy's medical treatment. However, the family later requested the return of the funds, declining all assistance.
