    Nigeria Reports 10 Deaths, 195 New Infections, Its Lowest Single-day Record Since Last Month

    Nigeria reported its lowest number of cases of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in a single day for the second time on Saturday since February 28, 2021 when the country recorded 240 cases.

    Across the country, a total of 158,237 COVID-19 cases were recorded Saturday, including 195 new cases confirmed in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The country also reported 10 COVID-19-related deaths, raising its toll to 1,964.

    According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, 620 people were discharged after recovered  from with the virus, as of Friday, the cumulative recoveries reached 137,645.

    "Our discharges today includes 282 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines", NCDC said via its official Twitter handle.

    The success of states and territories at stopping coronavirus spread has left a major measure for tracking reproduction rates statistically irrelevant, as active cases in Nigeria fall to 18,628.

    The breakdown released by NCDC showed that Lagos confirmed 70 new cases, the highest number of infections for the day. While Kaduna, Abia and Edo reported  22, 20 and 18 respectively.

    Also, Kano had ten cases, Akwa Ibom had nine, Rivers and FCT  had seven cases each and Borno with six infections.

    Bauchi, Osun and Oyo recorded five cases each, Plateau and Ekiti reported three cases each, Niger and Ogun confirmed two cases each and Zamfara with one case.
