Nigeria reported 2 more deaths from COVID-19 Sunday following a steady decline in the number of people hospitalized with the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The country also reported 240 new confirmed cases of the virus in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory in the last 24 hours. Lower than 341 reported on Saturday Feb. 27.
Its Lowest Single-day Record in 2 Months, December, 28 2020 when the country reported 397 cases
The exponential rise in COVID-19 recoveries in sequence with
lower daily infections has resulted in a consistent decline in Nigeria's active
caseload, which presently stands at 20,183.
The new cases brings the total number of infections in the nation
to 155,657.
With 2 new deaths, the country's toll of coronavirus-related
deaths has mounted to 1,907.
On the other hand, the number of people who have recuperated
from coronavirus moved up to 133,768
with 512 new discharges in the last 24 hours. The Nigeria Centre for Disease
Control disclosed late Sunday.
"Our discharges today includes 170 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines." NCDC noted via its official Twitter handle.
In its breakdown, Anambra led with 85 new cases, Lagos the
epicentre of the disease in the country came second with 82 new infections,
followed by Osun with 17 and Ogun with 10
infections.
Other states with new infections are Kwara-9, FCT-8, Kano-7, Abia-6, Borno-4, Edo-2, Bayelsa-2, Kaduna-2 and Rivers-1.
