    Nigeria Reports 27 Deaths, 964 New COVID-19 Cases

    Nigeria reported 964 coronavirus cases on Saturday in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    There were 27 new COVID-19 related deaths reported on Saturday, while 2,784 recoveries from the virus were confirmed and discharged from hospitals across the country.

    The total active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria dropped significantly to 10,067 from 11,914 it was  the previous day.

    The additional cases include 456 in Lagos, 180 in Ondo, 66 in Edo and  62 in Rivers.

    Niger reported 26 cases, Akwa Ibom had 25 cases, Ekiti, Kwara, Oyo reported 22 cases each.

    Kaduna reported 17 cases, Delta had 14, Benue had 12, Gombe and Plateau reported 9 cases each, FCT had 8, Jigawa had 5, Ogun reported 4, Bayelsa and Nasarawa with 2 cases and Bauchi reported 1 cases.

    The health officials reported that today’s report includes, backlog of 456 cases reported for Lagos State from 3rd (237), and 4th (219) September, 2021.

    Backlog of 9 cases reported for Plateau State from 3rd (2), and 4th (7), September 2021.

    Backlog of 17 cases reported for Kaduna State for 3rd September, 2021.

    Backlog of 18 deaths reported for Lagos State for 30th August, 2021

    NCDC added that only 2 states,  Osun, and Sokoto reported zero cases on Saturday.

    According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC’s data, since February 27 last year, there have been 195,052 positive COVID-19 cases and 2,522 people have lost their  lives to the disease. There are 182,463 resolved COVID-19 cases reported.
