The esteemed brand commemorates its 40th anniversary with the introduction of several new additions, including the Protea by Marriott Luanda, marking its inaugural presence in Angola.

In commemoration of its 40th anniversary, Protea Hotels by Marriott is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural property in Angola, while simultaneously reinforcing its presence in South Africa with the addition of a new establishment in Pretoria. These latest additions, namely Protea by Marriott Luanda and Protea by Marriott Pretoria Hatfield, are poised to provide both business and leisure travelers with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant local cultures and experience unparalleled hospitality, complemented by exceptional accommodations, state-of-the-art amenities, and world-class service.

Protea Hotels by Marriott, a distinguished brand within Marriott Bonvoy's esteemed portfolio of over 30 exceptional brands, has experienced substantial growth since its inception in July 1984. Initially comprising four hotels in South Africa, the brand has expanded to encompass over 60 properties across South Africa and eight other African nations, including Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and now Angola. This extensive presence in key business centers and sought-after leisure destinations positions Protea Hotels by Marriott as a preferred choice for discerning travelers exploring Africa.

Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President of Premium & Select Brands, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, at Marriott International, stated that this month marks four decades of exceptional service and genuine African hospitality. She expressed that there is no better way to commemorate this milestone than by further solidifying Protea Hotels' legacy with their first establishment in Angola and the ongoing expansion of the brand within South Africa. Both properties will merge contemporary comfort with a profound appreciation for local culture and heritage, providing guests with a distinctive and enriching experience during their stay.
