    COVID-19: Two More Deaths, 337 New Cases in Nigeria

    Two more virus-related deaths were confirmed on Friday as the daily new count dropped from three deaths recorded on Thursday, according to the data by the health officials.

    The data also revealed that additional 337 Nigeria residents are infected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The number of new infections reported today is lower than the 601 cases logged on Thursday.

    Since the beginning of the outbreak, 2,649 people in Nigeria have died after contracting the disease caused by the novel coronavirus and the nationwide infections tally rose to 201,294.

    No fewer than 189,608 people have recovered so far from the disease caused by coronavirus and discharged, with additional 262 new patients that were discharged on Friday.

    The active caseload increased by 75 on Friday, an addition to 8,964 previously reported on Thursday. Currently stands at 9,039.

    The breakdown of the new cases as released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC as follows: Lagos-142, Rivers-32, Edo-30, Delta-25, Kwara-23, Kaduna-16, Oyo-16, Plateau-12, FCT-11, Akwa Ibom-10, Kano -10, Ogun-3, Ekiti-2, Gombe-2, Imo-2 and Nasarawa-1.

    NCDC added that Sokoto and Zamfara are the only two states with zero cases.
