Nigeria health officials reported a significant
drop in the number of COVID-19 infections on Saturday as active cases linked to
the virus declined.
The 29 Nigeria residents currently infected with the disease represent a significant decrease over the 236 patients reported a day earlier. The lowest case counts since November 19, 2021 when the country registered 23 COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, active cases further decrease from 22,900 to
22,889.
Data released by the Nigeria Centre for
Disease Control NCDC shows that 40 patients were discharged on Saturday after recovering
from the infectious disease.
The health officials says that no new death linked
to COVID-19 were reported on Saturday.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Nigeria
has seen 251,959 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, out of which 225,946 patients
have recovered and 3,124 Nigeria residents have lost their lives to coronavirus.
Where Are The New COVID-19 Cases?
Most of the cases reported by the NCDC on
Saturday in 3 states were found in Lagos, the epicentre of coronavirus
infections in the country recorded 27 cases
Other states with relatively low COVID-19 case
counts reported today include Kano and Rivers with one case each.
However, NCDC added that four states; Anambra,
Bauchi, Plateau and Sokoto reported zero cases.
