The two-day experience wove together whisky appreciation, visual art, and sustainability, underscoring The Macallan’s philosophy of heritage-driven innovation. Guests explored works by Nigerian artists Frederick Idele, Danguduro Adeniyi, Atinuke Badmus, and David Olatoye—each offering a personal perspective on themes of vulnerability, identity, resilience, and belonging.
Cocktail pairings featuring The Macallan expressions accompanied the artistic journey, creating an immersive encounter that merged sensory indulgence with thoughtful reflection.
Speaking on the brand’s commitment, Idorenyin Emmanson, Brand Manager, Edrington Portfolio, Nigeria, noted:
“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at The Macallan, shaping our distillation process, packaging innovations, and community initiatives. We are proud to support creative expressions that align with our values of legacy, craftsmanship, and purpose-driven storytelling.”
The Macallan has distinguished itself globally for embedding sustainability into its production. The distillery has operated on 99% renewable energy since 2021, achieved carbon neutrality, and committed to halving emissions by 2030 as part of its net-zero 2045 vision. Its lighter bottles, recyclable packaging, and ISO 14001 certification have earned the brand international recognition, including the Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark.
In Lagos, this ethos found artistic expression. Idele’s We Them Boys series exposed the emotional truths hidden behind everyday smiles, while Badmus explored male vulnerability inspired by her father, brothers, and friends. Adeniyi used thousands of dots in his pointillist piece Helping Hand to capture unity and collective strength, while Olatoye blended delicate sketches with stained glass and fabric to explore longing, faith, and personal belief.
The showcase extended beyond art appreciation—it highlighted Nigeria’s creative economy as fertile ground for global brands seeking deeper cultural engagement. By pairing whisky with artistry and sustainability, The Macallan positioned itself not only as a luxury drink but as a curator of meaningful experiences at the intersection of heritage, innovation, and cultural capital.
